About Us

About Springs Road Animal Hospital

This corner of Hickory has been home to a veterinary practice since 1976, and we’re proud to be its current chapter. In September 2020, Dr. Brittany Holler Barkley and her husband purchased Springs Road Animal Hospital, refreshed the facility, and updated its medicine and protocols — all while preserving the neighborhood-clinic feel that’s defined this place for nearly five decades. Today, our team cares for dogs and cats across Catawba County with a thoughtful, partnership-driven approach to veterinary medicine.

Personal Care for Pets and the People Who Love Them

We treat your pet like family because we understand what that means. Most of our team members are pet parents themselves, and we know that the bond you share with your dog or cat isn’t something to be taken lightly. That’s why we pay just as much attention to you as we do to your pet. We listen to your concerns, explain what we’re seeing in plain language, and make sure you leave feeling informed, not overwhelmed. Veterinary visits should feel like a conversation, not a transaction.

A Deeper Approach to Veterinary Medicine in Hickory

Good medicine starts with the full picture. Before we make recommendations, we want to understand your pet’s daily life — their diet, their environment, their habits, the relationships that shape their world. That context helps us catch issues earlier, tailor treatment plans that actually fit your household, and avoid the one-size-fits-all approach that too often passes for pet care. Whether your dog needs a routine wellness visit or your cat needs a same-day urgent care appointment, you’ll get our full attention and a plan tailored to your pet.

Partnership at the Heart of Everything We Do

Dr. Barkley founded her approach on a simple idea: pet parents are partners, not bystanders. You know your dog or cat better than anyone, and the best care plans are the ones we build together. We’ll bring the medical expertise, you’ll bring the daily insight, and together we’ll work toward the goal we all share — a long, healthy, happy life for the pet you love. Ready to meet the team?
